1989) Of the many studio-based dance music projects which dominated the charts during the early ’90s, few were so popular, or such an improbable success story, as Technotronic. Emerging from Belgium — never a musical hotbed in the first place — the multicultural group helped push the deep bass grooves and insistent beats of house music out of the club scene and into the pop mainstream; ironically, they did so largely by hiding behind the photogenic visage of an African-born fashion model who, it was later revealed, did not even perform on their records. In reality, Technotronic was the brainchild of Jo Bogaert (real name Thomas de Quincy), an American-born philosophy teacher who relocated to Belgium in the late ’80s in the hopes of mounting a career as a record producer. Bogaert’s intent was to fuse house with hip hop, and towards that aim he sent demos of his work to a variety of rappers, including the Welsh-born MC Eric and a Zairean-born teenager named Ya Kid K (nee Manuela Kamosi), at the time a member of the Belgian rap group Fresh Beat Productions.
Technotronic’s first single, 1989’s “Pump Up the Jam,” was a smash hit across Europe and eventually the U.S. While the record featured the raps of Ya Kid K, she was nowhere to be seen in the accompanying video, which instead featured Zairean-born fashion model Felly lip-synching the lyrics; little did fans realize that not only was Felly nowhere near the studio at the time the single was recorded, in truth she did not even speak a word of English. She was also featured on the cover of Technotronic’s debut LP, Pump Up the Jam: The Album, further blurring the lines between truth and fiction; in the end, Bogaert admitted that Felly’s services had been engaged purely to establish the group with “an image.” When Technotronic toured in support of the 1990 hit “Get Up! (Before the Night Is Over),” Ya Kid K and MC Eric were alone behind the microphone, and Ya Kid K was also rightfully featured in the song’s video. The LP Trip On This: The Remixes soon followed, and in 1992 Ya Kid K went solo, albeit with Bogaert still in the producer’s seat; her debut album, One World Nation, scored with the hit “Move This,” originally a Technotronic cut released as a single after finding success in a cosmetics commercial. Electric Guitar ( Caught by surprise )

The guitar is a little bit out of tune sorry, the strings have not been changed in about a year.., (trying to tune it is futile) heh..

Its quite rare that I pick the electric up these days.

1985) The music video of Something About You is directed by Stuart Orme, who also directed videos for the Level 42 songs “Lessons in Love” and “Running in the Family”. The music video appears in their video album Family of Five, released in 1987. Mark King is characterized as a dark magician, it represents the negative side of the relationship of Mike Lindup, Phil, and Boon Gould with their girlfriends. Each one of the cases in certain situations. _____________________________________ At the beginning of their career, Level 42 was a jazz-funk fusion band, following in the footsteps of such pioneers as Stanley Clarke. By the end of the ’80s, they were a pop-R&B band with a number of hit singles to their credit. Featuring Mark King (bass, vocals), Phil Gould (drums), Boon Gould (guitar), and Mike Lindup (keyboards), the band formed in 1980. Before they released their first single, “Love Meeting Love,” the band was pushed to add vocals to their music in order to give it a more commercial sound; they complied, with King becoming the lead singer. Released in 1981, their self-titled debut album was a slick soul-R&B collection that charted in the U.K. Top 20, resulting in the release of The Early Tapes by their former record label, Polydor. Level 42 had several minor hit singles before 1984’s “The Sun Goes Down (Living It Up)” hit the British Top Ten. Released in late 1985, World Machine broke the band worldwide; “Lessons in Love” hit number one in Britain and “Something About You” hit number seven in America. Their next two records, Running in the Family (1987) and Staring at the Sun (1988), were a big success in the U.K., yet only made some headway in the U.S. Both of the Gould brothers left the band in late 1987; they were replaced by guitarist Alan Murphy and drummer Gary Husband. Murphy died of AIDS-related diseases in 1989; he was replaced by the renowned fusion guitarist Alan Holdsworth for 1991’s Guaranteed. 1985) The music video features Animotion’s two singers, Bill Wadhams and Astrid Plane, dressed in various costumes (such as Mark Antony and Cleopatra) while performing the song next to a swimming pool and inside a luxury house.

Riding the wave of MTV-friendly synth pop of the mid-’80s, Animotion took the coldly catchy “Obsession” to the Top Ten in the beginning of 1985. After that, success was elusive — the follow-up, “Let Him Go,” barely cracked the Top 40 just four months later. In 1988, over half of the band left the lineup, including the leaders Bill Wadhams and Astrid Plane; actress Cynthia Rhodes and former Device member Paul Engemann became the lead vocalists. (Fortunately, the personnel changes apparently didn’t cause any animosity — Plane married Charles Ottavio, Animotion’s bassist and one of the founding members of the group.) The new lineup was lucky enough to score a Top Ten hit with “Room to Move,” a lightweight song from a Dan Aykroyd movie that was even more lightweight (My Stepmother Is an Alien). “Guide” (1965) is an Indian movie directed by Vijay Anand, who also contributed with the screenplay. The movie is based on the critically acclaimed novel by R. K. Narayan, and is widely considered to be one of the masterpieces of the Indian film industry. The movie stars Dev Anand and Waheeda Rehman. Music by S.D. Burman.
The film was a box office hit upon release. This movie is memorable not only for its unique plot but also for the award performances of the lead actors. Waheeda Rehman has said that Rosie was the best role she played, and most critics consider Dev Anand’s performance in this movie to be his finest.
